The Occasion
Co.

The Occasion Co. is the little laser-engraving business my partner Amy and I started in the first 2020 lockdown, mostly to keep ourselves sane. This is the full stack in one project: designing the engraved products, making them, building the brand and the custom Shopify store, then doing the SEO and ongoing ranking that keeps the orders coming. It went from a lockdown side project to a shop that sits on page one for most of what we sell.

How it came together

Built it, then grew it.

01

Product and brand from scratch

We design the engraved pieces ourselves and make them in-house, so the range and the brand grew together. I wanted something calm, clean and a bit premium, aimed at people happy to spend a little more for something nicer, then carried that through every product, the packaging, the site and the social grid so it all felt like one thing.

02

A Shopify store that converts

I built the store with the buying experience front of mind: pick a product, add your personalisation, get to checkout with as little friction as possible. We designed dozens of custom monograms sized to each item so people could make it their own without it ever feeling fiddly.

03

SEO and ads that pay for themselves

I did the SEO properly, right down to alt tags, product descriptions and page titles built around what people actually search for, then added Google and social ads on top. That mix is why we rank on page one for most of the range without burning money to do it.

It's still going strong, so have a look at the real thing and see the brand and the store the way customers do.
